About The Position

The Receiving I position is an entry-level role within the receiving department designed to prepare employees for the Receiving III position. This role focuses on learning and performing core receiving responsibilities within the glass manufacturing facility. The employee will receive hands-on training in unloading materials, operating overhead cranes, using specialized equipment, processing transactions in the ERP system, and supporting overall receiving operations.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to safety and detail.
  • Willingness and ability to learn receiving procedures, material handling practices, and warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to learn and operate ERP and inventory management systems used for receiving transactions.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills while working with receiving, materials handling, and production teams.
  • Ability to adapt to new processes, systems, and operational procedures during the training period.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and operate equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, push, and maneuver materials when necessary.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around heavy machinery and glass materials.
  • Occasional lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in hands-on training to learn how to safely unload inbound shipments of glass, materials, and supplies.
  • Learn proper procedures for operating overhead cranes and other material handling equipment.
  • Perform receiving tasks, including verifying shipment quantities against packing slips and purchase orders.
  • Inspect incoming glass and materials for damage and report discrepancies or quality concerns.
  • Observe and practice proper glass handling techniques to minimize damage and ensure safe material movement.
  • Properly label, scan, and store materials in assigned warehouse locations following inventory procedures.
  • Learn how to perform receiving transactions and scanning activities in the ERP system to record inbound materials.
  • Perform cycle counts
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining rack inventory and storage areas.
  • Support production by delivering glass to workstations as required.
  • Follow all plant safety procedures and OSHA requirements related to crane and equipment operation.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report any mechanical or safety concerns.
  • Learn and follow all plant safety procedures and required PPE standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
