The Family Support Children’s Program Recreation Aide is responsible for caring for children during Charles River Center’s Kid’s Break, social groups, and School Vacation programs, along with other current and future Family Support programs. This position requires participation in community-based experiences with individuals served by the Charles River Center. Duties include: Providing direct care and behavior management Implementing program-based behavioral interventions Supporting the development of social, communication, personal, and physical skills Assisting with activities of daily living as needed This role may require lifting or assisting physically disabled children weighing between 40 to 100 pounds as necessary. PRIMARY DUTIES Provide direct care and supervision for children with and without special needs (ages 8+) during integrated programs. Assist with toileting, diaper changes, clothing changes, personal hygiene, and feeding meals (e.g., lunch and snacks). Act as a positive role model by demonstrating appropriate dress, language, and character. Work with individuals on behavior management, personal development, social skills, communication, and physical development. Facilitate community integration by accompanying participants on outings and engaging in activities. Report issues to the Coordinator, Assistant Director, or Director of Family Support and complete Incident Reports as needed. Collaborate as a team player with Coordinators and fellow Recreation Aides. Support volunteers, making them feel welcome, useful, and appreciated. Organize engaging activities such as games, sports, arts & crafts, swimming, exercise, music, and more. Foster consistent and supportive relationships with children so they feel secure and welcome. Create inclusive experiences that involve both children with and without special needs. Establish trusting relationships with families so they feel supported and confident in the program. Communicate with families regarding their expectations and specific needs for their children. Follow family instructions on diet, medications, interventions, and permitted activities. Maintain cleanliness by tidying up activity spaces and treating family possessions with respect. Attend team meetings as scheduled. Perform other duties as assigned.
