This role is for the experienced real estate paralegal who is excited about large scale/complex commercial financing and transactional matters from start to finish. The Real Estate Paralegal is responsible for providing support and assistance to the real estate practice group in all aspects of real estate due diligence, financings, acquisitions, syndications and dispositions. The Real Estate Paralegal must be an analytical and independent thinker, detail-oriented and possess superior organizational skills. In performing the duties of this position, the Real Estate Paralegal will exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance and completion of all assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Paralegals should preferably hold a valid Paralegal certification, in addition to 7+ years of real estate transactional experience in an AmLaw 150 firm or specialist real estate practice area.
  • Experience with titles, surveys, deeds and ancillary transactional documents is required.
  • Experience MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
  • Must have solid time management and organizational skills; high level of accuracy and attention to detail; self-motivated and pro-active; and have excellent customer service attitude.
  • Must be available for overtime work and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and revise purchase agreements, various real estate and loan closing documents, title/survey objections, contracts, contract addendums, deeds, easement agreements, use restriction agreements, and other related and ancillary transactional documentation.
  • Perform due diligence including title and survey reviews for financings; acquisitions and/or dispositions/sales; orders and reviews other third-party reports; zoning reports; UCC/bankruptcy searches and underlying title documents and entity documents.
  • Research real estate laws, regulations, and case law as needed.
  • Assist and work with outside attorneys, lenders, title companies, escrow agents, and surveyors to facilitate, resolve, and finalize various matters, related to financing, leasing, and acquisitions and/or dispositions/sales transactions.
  • Prepare closing checklists, critical dates list, closing documents, various affidavits, certificates and resolutions and coordinate and control the closing process for various real estate transactions.
  • Prepare and organize all closing documents and closing binders.
  • Assist with recordation and/or filing of various legal documentation for financing and real estate transactions, corporate matters, and other matters as needed; obtain recorded documentation from various governmental offices (i.e., Secretaries' of States and county recorders).
  • Organizes and maintains case files using a variety of automated procedures.
  • Acts as the liaison between case team attorneys and support staff as needed to ensure that case-specific paralegal services meet the team's expectations.
  • Meet billable goals as established by practice management.
  • May require overtime as needed.
  • Performs additional office support duties as assigned/requested.
