Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our RCS Information Services team in the role of RCIS-Developer Specialist. The RCIS ‑ Developer Specialist is responsible for a broad range of activities using the Microsoft technology stack, with primary focus on Microsoft SQL Server, Visual Studio, and Azure DevOps. This role supports IU Health stakeholders by addressing new development requests, responding to issues identified through system monitoring tools, contributing to project ‑ level solution design, and guiding team members through issue resolution. Key areas of specialization include designing and enhancing web applications and web services, implementing DBA ‑ style data warehousing solutions to ensure performance and reliability, and performing complex analysis across multiple systems. The RCIS ‑ Developer Specialist participates in peer code reviews to ensure adherence to established development standards and supports Azure DevOps CI/CD processes. Responsibilities also include maintaining existing data and processes while developing new solutions, processes, and supporting artifacts. The role requires producing clear, standards ‑ aligned technical documentation to enable sustainable support across teams. Collaboration is essential, as the RCIS ‑ Developer Specialist works closely with internal and external stakeholders, including IT infrastructure, application support, development teams, and operational partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as healthcare, computer science, information systems, or a similar discipline.
  • 6+ years of technical experience with two or more of the following technologies: T‑SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, MDX, DAX, stored procedures, triggers, .NET Framework, or C#.
  • 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or newer).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage data with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency in a production‑focused environment.
  • Experience working directly with end users to support systems and resolve issues.
  • Understanding of how application and database errors impact users and downstream systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to identify discrepancies, research root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Solid understanding of software applications and the ability to research and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational and time‑management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple projects and requests.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution abilities.
  • Proven ability to meet reporting and delivery deadlines while ensuring data accuracy and reliability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in Agile or SCRUM development environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD processes, particularly within an Azure DevOps environment.
  • Familiarity with medical and/or financial terminology.
  • Knowledge of report writing, scripting (including PowerShell), and data structures.
  • Experience working with HL7 interfaces and 835/837 EDI formats.
