About The Position

CICONIX is seeking a Radiology (X-Ray) Technologist with experience in the operation of diagnostic radiology equipment to produce radiographic studies/images used in medical diagnosis and treatment to support the VA Portland Health Care System in Portland, OR. Prepares patients for radiologic procedures. Protects patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards. Takes X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety, which involves setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients and includes implementing infection control procedures for the work area. Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis. Adjusts/sets radiographic controls. Positions patients and takes X-rays of specific parts of the patient's body as requested by physicians. Check X-rays for clarity of image, retaking when needed. Set up and adjust accessory equipment as required. Make exposures necessary for the required procedures. Take films/images to daylight processor for processing. Edit film/images for quality of images and input data into the system. Maintains records of patients treated, examinations performed, views, images taken, and settings used. Performs routine examinations under the technical and professional direction of a Radiologist when required. Check to ensure equipment is working; notifies the physician and/or technical supervisor of any equipment problems. Sets up x-ray room, assuring that supplies and equipment are available and assures that infection control standards are followed.

Requirements

  • Certified as Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Two years' experience in the operation of diagnostic radiology equipment to produce radiographic studies/images used in medical diagnosis and treatment.
  • Successful completion of an accredited educational training program in which technologists are certified as Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and must be certified for their specialty.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Two years' experience in the operation of diagnostic radiology equipment under the direction of a Radiologist or other medical officer to produce radiographic studies/images used in medical diagnosis and treatment.
  • Must have worked within a hospital lab setting as an X-Ray Tech in the last six months.
  • Provide evidence of current professional liability insurance.
  • Be available to work for the VA at least six (6) months after starting date.
  • U.S. Citizenship and a successful background investigation are required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Willingness to comply with the government vaccination requirements, reflected of CDC guidelines, for diseases including Hepatitis B, influenza, and proof of a negative PPD test.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift supplies or materials (15-100 pounds) as required.
  • Manual dexterity for handling equipment and performing imaging procedures.
