Requirements

  • Proficient in the use of computers.
  • Type 35 wpm.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology used by insurance and managed care health plans.
  • Education: HS Diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience: Previous related experience preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills a plus.
  • Knowledge of imaging procedures a plus.
  • CPR certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Schedule patient appointments, verify scripts, pre-screens and register patient for imaging visits in accordance with established clinical and insurance requirements to improve access and carecoordination. Assists Imaging technologist in preparing patients for procedures.
  • Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to complete scheduling and registration, confirm appointments, verify demographic information, run medical necessity, answer inquiries and resolve user issues in accordance with established protocols to ensure patient safety, compliance and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate referrals and insurance requirements by obtaining and/or confirming patient information to ensure the patient receives maximum benefits for services. Assure regulatory and compliance requirements following local payor coverage determinations.
  • Utilize software system to answer, coordinate, track, and monitor interactions across multiple channels of communication.
  • Instructs the patient regarding preparations, pre -screens for radiologic examination using guide sheet posted at reception area. Alerts appropriate personnel of each patient's arrival and awaits acknowledgment that message has been received. Maintain qualitative and quantitative individual and team performance targets
