About The Position

AnySignal is ushering in the next generation of RF products and services, for the most demanding space and defense missions, AnySignal provides a flexible platform with world-class performance that is easy to deploy, monitor, purchase, and upgrade. Our team has a diverse range of backgrounds that cover cloud computing to artificial intelligence, communications and sensing, embedded systems, and much more. As a radiation engineer you will lead the development, analysis and test execution to ensure system performance and resilience against radiation. You will perform exhaustive analysis, design, and tests at the board, subsystem, and system levels. You will help solve radiation-induced failures, running root cause investigations and collaborating with electrical, DSP, software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to improve the reliability, resilience, and performance of the products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in radiation effects (SEE, TID, DD)
  • Experience with radio test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers, vector signal generators, and network analyzers.
  • Strong coding/scripting skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
  • Demonstrated experience defining and executing radiation test campaigns

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering, physics, or other engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in radiation effects or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting radiation events from component to system level.
  • Experience in using one or more radiation computational simulation tools (eg. GEANT4, MCNPX, NOVICE, SpaceRad, FASTRAD or CRÈME)
  • Experience with ECSS-Q-ST-60-15, NASA-HDBK-4002, MIL-STD-883 or JESD89A/JESD229 standards, and requirements
  • Strong knowledge of RF engineering and electrical circuit analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead physics-based ionizing radiation requirements definition, modeling and simulation – a deep understanding of radiation effects is critical.
  • Develop and own radiation effects analysis and mitigation across products, spanning LEO to deep space environments.
  • Perform circuit, sub-system, and system level engineering and risk assessment due to ionizing radiation effects
  • Design and implement radiation test campaigns, including requirements flow-down interfacing with external test labs and facilities
  • Drive creation of internal tools, databases, and automated test frameworks for consistent capture and accessibility of effects and mitigations
  • Represent radiation engineering in design reviews, trade studies, and program milestones
  • Interface with, teach, and collaborate with EE, ME, DSP, software and test engineers to architect robust designs, test and validate systems
