Why Join Us | DuPont Careers DuPont Water Solutions, a global leader in ion exchange resin technology, is seeking a Synthesis Lab Technologist to join our Research & Development team. In this role, you will contribute to customer-facing projects that develop critical product and process know-how, helping our manufacturing plants deliver high‑performance solutions to customers worldwide. Your work will directly support DuPont’s mission to save water and energy and protect the environment by enabling more effective, efficient products and processes that do more with less environmental impact. This position is part of the Water Solutions R&D organization and is located on-site at the DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington, Delaware. Training in DuPont’s core technologies, including ion exchange resins, will be provided.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Two to five years of experience in an industrial laboratory setting (internship or co‑op experience may count toward this requirement)
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to balance multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to work effectively on project teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience synthesizing, functionalizing, and/or testing polymers
  • Familiarity with ion exchange resins and laboratory-scale packed resin beds
  • Analytical experience in the characterization of polymers and aqueous systems

Responsibilities

  • Develop, synthesize, and functionalize polymer systems in the laboratory to support new product and process development
  • Apply ion exchange resin technology to overcome processing and purification challenges
  • Characterize and analyze polymer and aqueous systems, using data to inform technical decisions
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers to deliver project objectives
  • Analyze experimental data and present results, conclusions, and recommendations to stakeholders and management
  • Manage laboratory operations, including primary responsibility for select process and analytical equipment, as well as safety and procedural documentation
