Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for several Summer Intern positions within the Global Development Organization. The 2026 Summer Intern Position will support multiple optimization projects across Innovative Medicine R&D ultimately helping to transform the way R&D operates. The candidate will be exposed to project management skills, strategies to optimize business operations, and cost saving tactics. The candidate will learn about the pharmaceutical R&D processes, communication and leadership skills, managing cross functional, continuous improvement, and stakeholder management in this role. The Intern Program will provide undergraduate students with practical experience focusing on certain aspects of the Pharmaceutical Research and Development Process. This will include working with cross-functional teams, understanding global regulations, gaining exposure to processes, roles, and functions; and supporting how J&J Innovative Medicine delivers medicine to patients. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to work across Pharma R&D gaining exposure to end-to-end drug development at the asset level and gain further knowledge into data science and AI. The Summer Intern Program provides real-life hands-on experience, education, coaching, mentoring, and networking opportunities to meet people globally from various cross-functional areas. It is mandatory for each intern to adhere to applicable SOPs, Work Instructions, Policies, and will be required to comply with relevant training. The Intern Program and each intern will adhere to the following framework: Typically run from May 2026 – August 2026 Hybrid work model (3 days at one of local sites, 2 days remote) Required 40-hour work week Responsible for own transportation to local site(s) Assignment area and work-site location to match business needs Summer Intern Project to be conducted beyond the daily work assignment Pay rate determined on the grade level at time of offer Career mentorship with networking opportunities within assigned team and beyond

Requirements

  • Candidate must be actively enrolled in an accredited University for the duration of the Intern assignment pursuing a bachelor’s degree
  • By start date, candidate must be considered an undergraduate sophomore or above
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2 or higher
  • Availability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the internship/co-op
  • Ability to provide transportation to/from the work location
  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
  • Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: You will support coordinating and and overseeing various projects within R&D, ensuring that they are executed successfully and within the given timelines. This includes coordinating with cross-functional teams, tracking progress, and managing any potential risks or issues that may arise.
  • Operations Strategy: You will support developing and implementing strategic plans to optimize the business operations. This includes identifying areas for improvement, streamlining processes, and ensuring that operational efficiency is maximized.
  • Budgeting, Resource and Timeline: You will support managing budgets and allocating resources effectively to support the projects and operations within the Pharmaceutical R&D department. This includes making budget recommendations, monitoring expenses, and optimizing resource allocation to achieve project goals
  • Stakeholder Management: You will interact with various stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure alignment and collaboration. This includes building relationships with key stakeholders, managing their expectations, and effectively communicating project updates and progress.
  • Continuous Improvement: You will support identification of opportunities for process improvement and innovation within the R&D operations. This involves identifying bottlenecks, implementing best practices, and driving a culture of continuous improvement to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Communication: Encourage open communication and collaboration among team members. Create an environment where everyone feels safe to share ideas, ask questions, and provide feedback, enabling a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Change Management: work closely with Sparks (change management team) to ensure smooth business collaboration and implementation
  • Ensure Implementation: You will support implementation of initiatives with the relevant business with detailed execution plans that are being monitored by KPIs.
  • Other: Interface with global functions like IT, Finance and Procurement Support R&D Learning and Development strategy.
