Mechanical Engineer Ultradent, a developer and manufacturer of innovative dental and consumer products who distributes and sells products world-wide is looking for a Mechanical Engineer (ME) . Our engineering group develops custom products to support our company’s needs. Over the last few years, we have taken steps to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our engineering designs and are continuing to strive for improvements. Following are some important job duties the ME would be responsible for: Review customer specifications, perform requirements analysis, develop concepts, generate practical designs through modeling and analysis, conduct formal design reviews, build and test working hardware to demonstrate compliance with customer requirements Work with manufacturers and vendors for part and assembly fabrication Manage CAD and BOM data (large models) in PDM systems (Solidworks PDM, 3DExperience, Arena) Assist in designing, building, and testing mechanical components and systems Document the design and problem-solving process Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders on engineering design, best practices, and process improvements Responsible for meeting deadlines and reaching beyond the “job description” at times to get things done. Help with troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts Engage in continuous improvement activities What we’re looking for in you: BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field Experience with SolidWorks CAD modeling Computing skills, including but not limited to proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Visio), Share Point, etc. Experience designing products (injection molded and other). Experience with implementing new products into manufacturing. Ability to work well and communicate with other interdisciplinary engineers and project stakeholders High degree of accountability and ownership to get the job done. In addition to the attributes above, you will need several skills to thrive in this role: 3D modeling – Are you a user of SolidWorks? Engineering fundamentals – Can you use math and statistics to drive a product design and process development/improvement? Design for manufacturability – Can you use general engineering practices to design products in such a way that they are easy to manufacture? Statistics – Can you use scientific methods for analyzing data? Project management – Can you use best practices in project management to keep a project moving forward? Prototyping – Do you have innovative ideas about how to solve problems? Can you quickly convert those ideas into a working prototype from which you can learn? You will have access to a lab full of assembly and cutting equipment, CNC machining, and 3D printing services. Communication – How well do you interact with your peers?
