Haemonetics interns are assigned to a meaningful project within the company to acquire a variety of experiences, try different skills, and learn what a future career might offer while also contributing to our innovation agenda by completing business-critical projects and assignments. The R&D Mechanical Engineer Internship will be located onsite 3 days/2 days remote per week in our downtown Boston HQ located at 125 Summer St. The Summer 2026 Internship is a 12-week program that requires a commitment to start on June 1st and stay through August 21st. What You Will Do this Summer: The R&D Hardware team is a responsible for the design, development, and support of new and existing capital equipment products. The team works closely with cross-functional partners to ensure high performance, reliability, and quality throughout the product lifecycle. The intern will contribute to a critical business initiative focused on understanding and mitigating the impact of internal and external vibrations on product performance and quality. This hands-on project combines experimental testing, equipment characterization, and lab prototyping.

Requirements

  • Required Degree type: Mechanical Engineer student (graduate student preferred) or recent graduate.
  • Self-starter, self-driven individual and onsite 5-days at BOSTON LAB.
  • Proficient solidworks 3D/2D Design, prototypes, testing, etc.
  • Know how to use data acquisition tools to characterize the vibration table.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize and validate the performance of a laboratory vibration table
  • Design and support vibration test setups to assess product impact
  • Develop and document calibration procedures, annual calibration records, and preventive maintenance protocols
  • Contribute to improving product features, robustness, and overall quality through data-driven insights
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects by building laboratory prototypes
  • Assist with pre-verification testing and evaluation of prototypes
