About The Position

At Boston Scientific, we advance science to improve lives. As an R&D Engineer I within our Sustaining R&D team in the Urology Division, you will contribute to the development and support of life-changing technologies that address a broad spectrum of urological conditions. This division focuses on product sustainability and innovation across a diverse portfolio, providing impactful solutions for patients worldwide. You'll collaborate across functions to ensure continuous improvement, compliance, and performance of existing products while supporting design optimization. At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Recent internship or co-op experience in an engineering role, preferably within a regulated environment (e.g., medical device, pharma, aerospace).
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including basic data analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to convey technical data to varied audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with medical device quality systems (ISO 13485 or 21 CFR 820).
  • Prior internship or co-op experience with Boston Scientific.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a quantitative and analytical approach to technical challenges.
  • Confidence engaging with cross-functional stakeholders and influencing decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in product development and sustaining engineering teams by conducting benchtop testing, developing prototypes and test fixtures, and validating test methods.
  • Analyze data and summarize technical results in formal documentation and verbal presentations tailored to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Lead hands-on problem-solving activities using structured experiments and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Troubleshoot design, material, and process-related issues for existing products.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in manufacturing, quality, regulatory, clinical, marketing, and process development-both locally and globally-to drive successful outcomes.
  • Support the execution of design control deliverables within Boston Scientific's product development system.
