As Stemilt’s Research Assistant, you'll play a key role in driving innovation alongside our R&D Director and Research Associates, supporting projects across the laboratory, field, and warehouse. The Research Assistant contributes to technical research and development to facilitate continuous innovation. This position supports four thousand Stemilters and it’s required to deliver extraordinary customer service at all levels, as well as ensure that any research data is captured and entered correctly. Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and comfortably climb ladders.
  • Valid driver’s license and forklift certification.
  • Flexible with work schedule and adaptable to varying conditions.
  • Comfortable working in cold environments.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Able to stay focused and work efficiently amidst distractions.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and phone skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, especially with numerical data.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with all Stemilters.
  • Committed to embracing change and demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience in the tree fruit industry.
  • Experience operating a forklift.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Conversational proficiency in both English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support fruit evaluations, forklift operations, orchard trial assessments, and daily activities in the research laboratory and storage facility, while collaborating with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols related to job responsibilities.
  • The ability to travel to and work at multiple locations is a fundamental requirement of this position. Travel may be required daily/weekly/as business needs dictate.
