About The Position

This is an opportunity to join a growing team of skilled, experienced brewing professionals, as such we are seeking experienced Laboratory Technicians for this role. As a “Quality Technician,” you will primarily work in the lab and execute day to day laboratory operations. This position plays a fundamental role in total beer quality and is a key contributor to successful production department outcomes. Ideal candidates will have a passion for craft beer and attention to detail as well as laboratory beverage industry experience. Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience, preferably within the beer, wine, or beverage manufacturing industry
  • Demonstrated experience with microbiological testing in a production environment, including aseptic technique, plating, and interpretation of results
  • Familiarity with common beverage spoilage organisms (e.g., wild yeast, lactic acid bacteria) and their impact on product quality
  • Experience performing routine quality control analyses (e.g., pH, DO, CO₂, gravity, cell counts) with a high degree of accuracy and consistency
  • Strong understanding of GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and lab safety protocols
  • Ability to interpret data and communicate results clearly to production and operations teams to support timely decision-making
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records
  • Availability to work days, nights and swing shifts required
  • Assigned shifts subject to change

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Operations
  • Lab cleanliness and organization
  • Inventory and ordering of laboratory consumables
  • Quality Assurance
  • Follow policies outlined in the quality manual, GMP policy, MSS, and Hazard communication Plan
  • Daily gravity, pH, and cell counts of fermenting beer
  • Interpretation of quality data
  • Microbiological Analysis of in process and finished product
  • Preparing media
  • Plating
  • Recording results
  • Interpretation of micro results through selective media and gram stain
  • Density/viability and data management of yeast
  • Manage and maintain yeast schedule
  • Preparation of Brew logs and Fermentation logs
  • Maintenance and calibration of measuring and testing equipment
  • Preparation and data management of controlled tastings, D-force analysis, general sensory analysis and go/no go analysis.
  • Preparation and data management of samples for outside lab analysis
  • Quality Control
  • Review and analyse Quality Control Point data
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain and promote a positive work environment with a focus on customer service based problem solving
  • With Quality Director, work to continuously improve quality at HenHouse Brewing Company
