About The Position

As a Quality Assurance Technician (QA Tech), you will be responsible for our food safety culture by conducting various analyses of raw materials, finished goods, and packaging. With the recent startup of the Glendale facility, you will have the unique opportunity to optimize existing procedures and support future line startup activities. In this role, you will partner with all areas of the manufacturing facility to ensure every bottle that goes out the door meets all Nestlé specifications and is of the highest quality our consumers expect. WORK SCHEDULEThis is a night shift position. It will require working on a 2-2-3,12-hour shift night schedule. The night shift occurs from 6:00pm – 6:30am.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Associate degree in chemistry, biology, general science, or related field preferred
  • Minimum two years of related industry experience required, preferably in a manufacturing facility with an onsite laboratory
  • Experience in beverage manufacturing, particularly in areas of Quality Assurance, production, or other related fields preferred
  • Ability to work different times (shift, hours, weekends, etc.) as needed to cover other areas of quality in order ensure successful production of the highest product quality

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and 5's of work area
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives i.e. testing optimization, Safety and SOP improvements
  • Create a safe work environment through risk predictions, job analyses, and discussion amongst team in regularly scheduled operational reviews (ORs)
  • Verify Nestlé Quality Assurance Center (NQAC) global methods for the site by evaluating local standard operating procedures (SOPs) for each analysis against global methods to ensure compliance and fit-for-purpose
  • Ensure system health by collaborating with external partners with audits and verification procedures
  • Draft, finalize, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) to accommodate all learning styles
  • Create training material in digital systems to be used for production operators and QA, and document trainings for traceability
  • Cross-functionally work with others to perform problem solving analyses potentially involving quality related issues
  • Train and coach production operators, QA team, and other relevant personnel to perform and record results for analytical processes
  • Manage raw material/packaging receipt and movement within site, including but not limited to, receipt in SAP digital system, analysis of material condition, and potential additional testing
  • Verify food safety and consistency of finished product through sample collection, analytical testing, and other verification activities both on and off the production floor
  • Perform microbiology analyses on a routine basis for finished product release to ensure no food safety risk, including regular method verifications to ensure testing health
  • Perform chemistry analyses on a routine basis for finished product to ensure product consistency across Nestle USA, including regular method verifications to ensure testing health
  • Supporting production in performing in-process chemistry analyses
  • Record results for verification into SAP and other digital systems as needed
  • Perform control checks and calibrations on analytical equipment, both on the production floor and in main laboratory spaces at a specified frequency (e.g., daily, weekly, etc.)
  • Maintain laboratory environment that is clean, orderly, and safe by following proper Nestlé policies, procedures, and techniques
  • Oversee inventory of supplies and laboratory consumables with ordering material as required, as well as upkeeping and reporting unusable equipment
  • Follow most up to-date Nestlé Guidelines for Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) to ensure physical safety and analytical process integrity, as written in the established Internal Control Plan (ICP)
  • Utilize quality data to trend issues involving analytical processes or other quality related issues
  • Escalate raw material issues to the appropriate group through electronic workflows and follow through with root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Completion of quality and food safety internal audits of the facility
