About The Position

The Role: The Quality Lab Technician reports to the Quality Manager and is responsible for all quality testing and control processes and procedures in the quality control lab. You will manage the lab tools, equipment and data systems to support efficient and effective quality testing capabilities of the site. How You Will Make an Impact: Execute quality initiatives and control processes in alignment with SI and local regulatory statutes Ensure daily adherence to all SIG written processes and procedures and approved departmental best practices Support process improvement, quality improvement, cost reduction, waste minimization and other efficiency increasing activities Provide technical service to both internal and external customers through the resolution of quality problems and customer complaints related Conduct conformance testing of in-coming materials and out-going products to meet specifications Maintain the quality laboratory, equipment and tools, in-process, and associated quality records and systems in compliance with ISO 9000 programs and standards. This includes troubleshooting and some maintenance of the Gas Chromographs and other lab equipment as needed to maintain reliability. Support and fill backup role for all required analytical tests on plant wastewater sumps, site wastewater systems, and regulated outfalls Participate in process to review, revise, and develop procedures as directed by the Quality Manager Initiate appropriate actions prevent non-conformances related to quality processes or quality systems Participate in root cause investigation and corrective action of quality excursions, customer complaints, and quality audit findings Participate in process hazard analysis (PHA) and Management of Change (MOCs) of new and existing site processes as directed by the Quality Manager Maintain chemical inventory and supplies to support QC Laboratory needs for current and following shift Ensure that all methods, procedures and instructions for the testing are followed in quality testing processes Practice Responsible Care 14001 through active participation in the Responsible Care Management System and adhere to the Guiding Principles of Responsible Care 14001

Requirements

  • Associate of Science degree in chemical technology or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in chemical process industry with petrochemical laboratory practices
  • Working knowledge of chromatography and analytical software
