About The Position

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for the measurement, monitoring, and feedback associated with the quality of raw materials, components, assemblies and products. The Quality Assurance Technician will also assist Quality Engineers in the design of quality systems, processes and procedures to ensure that products meet required standards and specifications. This position will focus on ensuring the quality of products manufactured in-house as well as from suppliers.

Requirements

  • Manufacturing process (Mechanical Assembly, Paint, Powder Coat, Welding, Stamping, Forming etc.,
  • “Safety first” mindset
  • Thorough understanding of how to read part and assembly drawing, evaluate finished products and perform quality inspections
  • Willingness and ability to pursue Quality Technician Certification from the American Society for Quality (ASQ).
  • Ability to learn basic statistics and the ability to analyze data such as capability studies, Statistical Process Control (SPC), etc.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
  • Must be highly organized
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills
  • PC skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Skills to document and organize quality data.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Lift, carry, push or pull weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand/walk up to 8 hrs. per day
  • Ability to bend, squat, crawl, climb or reach frequently throughout the day
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
  • Ability to work in 55 to 90 degree work environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing Quality role is a plus
  • Experience with ERP system applications a plus

Responsibilities

  • Inspecting, testing, sampling, and sorting products or goods either manufactured or purchased (in-process and finished products).
  • Developing, organizing, and maintaining accurate inspection and testing records.
  • Completing start-up 1st piece inspection for parts manufactured with new or revised tooling and machinery.
  • Completing 1st piece inspections on new and revised product designs.
  • Reviewing first article reports from suppliers
  • Completing capability studies and reports as needed.
  • Using test equipment and measurement instruments such as CMM, height gauges, calipers, and gage pins to evaluate materials and products.
  • Organizing and recording the data from test procedures and inspection.
  • Periodically sample and audit product from various manufacturing processes to ensure conformance to requirements and that operator inspection processes are being followed.
  • Initiating MRB reports when non-conforming material is identified. Coordinate effort to identify material disposition and root cause/corrective action.
  • Initiating SCAR reports when non-conforming purchased material is identified. Coordinate effort to identify material disposition and root cause/corrective action.
  • Initiating PR reports when non-conforming material identified during manufacturing.
  • Managing and executing the RMA process. This includes tracking defective material returned from the field, logging information, sorting and inspecting the material, determining disposition of the material and reporting outcomes.
  • Provide assistance and training to operators on how to conduct inspections and on the use of measurement equipment.
  • Working collaboratively with manufacturing operators to identify and resolve potential non-conformance issues.
  • Maintain Non-Conforming Material Report (NCMR) log, ensure all non-conforming material is quarantined and Material Review Board (MRB) are notified of non-conformance
