About The Position

Perform daily job tasks of Quality department in either K&N manufacturing location (Grand Prairie, TX/ Corona, CA) Conducts inspections on all products at all stages of the manufacturing process and documents findings and results in BMS vis Task entries Works with Product Managers and other department personnel to measure First Production runs and provides data to support Product Development Perform First Article Inspections Works with Material Handling personnel to expedite inspection of received materials, as needed Report number of parts that pass/ fail each inspection Organizes and formats data on inspection results to help support extent of issues Quality is observing Provides feedback to Department Supervisors and other K&N leadership on inspection results for customer complaints Based on the initial findings for an issue, determine when further actions are needed and implement those actions (for example, checking product at the next level). Work with Operations to perform root cause analysis on trends, determining what actions are needed to prevent a recurrence of a defect. Understand and apply internal calibration requirements and use of calibration software Coordinate external calibration activities with tool owners and calibration laboratories Assist the Quality team in: Reading and interpreting specifications and Engineering prints Performing product identification and traceability activities Understanding housekeeping, quality, safety, and work rules and regulations Understanding and use of advanced measuring equipment Understand and apply internal calibration require Trains Quality Technician 1 members

Requirements

  • Previous Quality Control/ Assurance experience required (previous ISO 9001 experience preferred)
  • Experience Level: One year as Quality Technician 1 or equivalent minimum
  • Demonstrated intermediate use of K&N’s Business Management System (BMS) (i.e., initiating Purchase Orders, performing traceability inquiries for suspect and non-conforming product, access BOMs, Advance PTFs and Scrap material)
  • Able to read/ interpret Manufacturing instructions, Quality Documents, product specifications and Engineering drawings and BOM
  • Understanding and use of basic/ advanced measuring tools (i.e., rulers, measuring tapes, calipers, micrometers, durometers, height and angle gauges, hardness tester, CMM)
  • Able to identify/ locate tools/ molds used in the manufacturing process, determine if the correct tools are being utilized
  • Able to troubleshoot issues with tools/ molds to ensure the correct tooling is used in production
  • Must be competent in use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Windows software
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers and in a 1-on-1 or team situation
  • Understands verbal and written directions/ instructions
  • Understands proper PPE and safety requirements for the Quality department
  • Must be detail oriented and well organized
  • Must demonstrate ability to simultaneously handle multiple duties, prioritize, follow through on all tasks and projects and meet pre-determined deadlines with limited supervision
  • Consistently demonstrate a positive company image to K&N customers
