Performs in-process quality assessments during vessel construction, including compliance audits prior to external surveys, utilizing Visual Testing (VT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or other non- destructive testing (NDT) inspection methods. Consults with Class Surveyors and / or Customer Representatives during external inspections as necessary. Provides guidance to production employees and Supervision for workmanship corrections required. Shall document, accept or reject workmanship based upon contract acceptance criteria for surface and subsurface inspections. Provides mentoring and on-the-job-training (OJT) for NDT certification of other Inspectors. Implements and maintains vessel-specific inspection plans and requirements per applicable contract requirements, or as assigned. May be assigned auditing of the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001:2015. May stand in as Step-Up-Supervisor as needed. May be required to support domestic travel to support company need. Must be willing to work any shift. Complies with Austal’s employee handbook general guidelines, company procedures and policies.
