About The Position

Atlas Roofing Shingles and Underlayment is seeking a Quality Manager for Franklin, OH. Quality Manager Primary Responsibilities Verifies quality of incoming raw materials and communicates with suppliers to maintain quality level. Plans and directs the activities and QC Lab Technicians and Quality Supervisor to ensure quality levels in accordance with company and customer requirements. Arranges inspection work, to meet the schedule demand and for verifying inspection techniques and procedures to maintain all certifications. Assists Supervisors and Quality Supervisor in-process quality and cost control. Assigns and maintains workflow, checks progress and quality of work. Initiates testing procedures to verify feasibility of production composition changes, cost reduction and method modifications. Instructs personnel in the operation of quality control equipment, testing, sampling techniques and supervision of production employees doing line inspections. Recommends purchase of raw materials and completes Raw Material Approval forms. Performs analysis of complaint samples as required. Travels to and does on-site inspections of possible quality issues. Investigates production quality and determines remedial action. Works with R&D to develop new QA reports that focus on monitoring the process. Develops a proactive and aggressive audit program for the facility with emphasis on computer reporting on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Exhibits knowledge and analytical skills to determine product’s quality and ability to foresee problems that will result from a product or process change. Tracks key processes and product specifications via statistical analysis and inputs in computer programs. Perform Competitive Audits as required. Performs regular warehouse audits. Provides aid to customers and sales representatives concerning technical assistance and recommendations. Maintains data entry of production and specification information. Works closely with Customers, Sales and Corporate personnel to assure timely and equitable settlement of all claims. Assumes responsibility for the supervision, discipline, performance and safety of QA technicians. Manages the supervision of Lab Technicians along with working with Production, Supervision, Corporate and hourly personnel in all quality aspects of the facility.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years in the manufacturing facility.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance field.
  • Some college education required, with a preference in a 4-year Engineering degree.
  • Computer skills require usage of Excel, Mini Tab and People Soft, creation of graphs and charts, Word, Power Point and Atlas Email system.
  • Good mathematical skills that include statistical process controls.

  • Six Sigma experience is a plus
