About The Position

The Quality & Compliance Manager will establish and sustain quality and compliance programs at this recycling facility to meet and exceed quality, food and product safety, and other industry-specific programs or regulatory requirements. The incumbent will serve as the face of site Quality & Compliance to internal and external stakeholders and customers including gathering, producing, analyzing, and submitting information related to product and process quality, as well as compliance. In addition, this resource will make recommendations on how to improve quality and compliance related practices and procedures, while also responding to customer inquiries. The Quality & Compliance Manager will report to the Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another technical field preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in a management role within the area of Quality Management in a multi-stage manufacturing environment, preferably in the plastics industry
  • Self-starter and works independently under minimum supervision
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Experience with lab management and ASTM test methods
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or other standards
  • Experience with food safety and SQF Code or another GFSI-recognized scheme
  • Experience with internal and external auditing
  • Practical experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies and control plans
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects under tight timelines; works with a sense of urgency
  • Detail oriented, analytical thinker and consistently demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and dependability
  • Displays excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Establishes and maintains effective channels of communications with internal and external contacts
  • Strong problem-solving skills and evidence of good judgment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the company and enjoy a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Establish and sustain Quality & Compliance programs at this new recycling facility to meet and exceed quality, food and safety, and other compliance requirements
  • Interacts with NOVA Circular Solutions Corporate Quality Managers, Product Safety teams, Suppliers, Customers, Sales, Customer Service, Product Development, Supply Chain, and Operations
  • Coordinates local response and investigations for customer complaints and claims
  • Supervises and provides direction to the Quality lab and related resources – i.e., technicians
  • Maintains necessary compliance paperwork related to the product compliance to programs, federal, state, and local regulations, and food safety
  • Conducts internal audits based upon multiple audit schemes; develops and implements corrective action plans
  • Leads third party audits, including direct involvement with auditors
  • Reports status and statistical data related to programs and projects
  • Reviews and trends data to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Follows company policies and practices while representing Novolex in an ethical and business-like manner
  • Manage food safety programs
  • Lead HACCP team
  • Implement and maintain support programs: pest control, cleaning and sanitation, GMPs, as examples
  • Ensure incoming feedstock used in food packaging applications meets specification requirements including chain of custody
  • Manage quality systems and certifications.
  • Serve as ISO Management Representative
  • Ensure Quality System compliance with national and international standards.
  • Champion Quality System internal and external audit process
  • Report on food safety and quality systems to management and NOVA Circular Solutions as required
  • Assist in the onboarding of new equipment (procurement, commissioning, and training) from a quality perspective
  • Develop, implement, and administer quality policies and procedures for all employees
  • Provide new hire orientation and periodic training to all employees (food safety, quality, GMP, etc.)
  • Manage the internal nonconformance and hold process
  • Manage customer complaints: investigate events, perform root cause-corrective action, make recommendations, and manage corrective and preventive actions to ensure implementation
  • Provide monthly management quality reports, as required
  • Manage quality testing and inspections
