About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring manufacturing processes consistently produce products that meet quality, safety, regulatory, and customer requirements. The position owns process quality, defect prevention, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement across the manufacturing floor, while partnering closely with Operations, Sales, Customer Service and Supply Chain. At higher experience levels, this role will provide quality leadership, team oversight, and ownership of the site Quality Management System (QMS).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, process quality, or quality engineering
  • Strong working knowledge of core quality tools:
  • SPC, PFMEA, Control Plans
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong data analysis skills and proficiency with Excel or similar reporting tools
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization, with suppliers and customers
  • Hands-on, shop-floor oriented mindset with a prevention-focused approach

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing quality processes, control plans, and inspection standards
  • Monitor and analyze and communicate production quality metrics (scrap, rework, yield, COPQ)
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for internal and customer quality issues
  • Provide hands-on, real-time quality support to production teams
  • Implement and maintain SPC.
  • Review and approve work instructions, PFMEAs, and process flow diagrams
  • Support new product introductions process validation, and risk management activities
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 and AS9100
  • Conduct internal audits, layered process audits (LPA), and product audits
  • Support external, customer, supplier and regulatory audits as required
  • Drive defect prevention and continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen and other tools within the Steel Business System
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering to strengthen process controls and reduce variation
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Corporate, Maintenance, and Sales teams
  • Interface with customers and suppliers on quality issues as needed
  • Support supplier quality activities in partnership with Sales and R&D
  • Lead, develop, and mentor quality systems coordinator, fabric inspectors, and lab technicians
  • Own and maintain the plant Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Establish quality strategy, goals, and performance reporting for the site
  • Manage customer quality relationships, escalations, and performance reviews
  • Ensure training, documentation, and quality culture are embedded across the organization
