About The Position

The Quality Inspection Lead conducts and oversees the inspection of all raw materials, manufactured parts/components, and finished goods to ensure compliance with all contract specifications and quality program requirements according to Company and ISO standards. The Quality Inspection Lead receives general work assignments under limited supervision and resolves most problems independently. Although their work is subject to additional inspection, the Quality Inspection Lead generally oversees the final check on incoming items, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods. As such, this individual has the authority to quarantine or stop the manufacture or shipment of nonconforming materials, parts, or finished pieces. The Quality Inspection Lead is also expected to be an active participant in support of the Company’s Six Sigma activities and adhere to its principles. Requirements

  • 3 or more years’ experience with quality systems, as well as contractual quality and ISO requirements.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Effective oral and written communications are essential, as are interpersonal skills.
  • Effective supervisory and communication skills include the ability to manage, delegate, listen, communicate (verbal and in writing) and work well with others.
  • Ability to read and understand job requirements and material specifications, shipping/receiving documents, shop drawings, and blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.
  • Ability to plan and organize work and conduct inspection activities on a thorough and consistent basis.
  • Working knowledge of radiator manufacturing—parts, materials, and methods.
  • Skill in using and maintaining appropriate inspection tools and equipment; familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and similar techniques.
  • Must have effective PC skills to include MS Office software such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • The ability to work under pressure and with frequent, established deadlines is required.
  • Organizational and analytical skills are required.
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse populations is required.
  • 1 or more years of leadership experience
  • 3 or more years of inspection/Quality Control or related manufacturing experience.
  • A driver’s license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) with PC-DMIS experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with PPAPs (Production Part Approval Process) strongly preferred.
  • An associate degree in manufacturing or related technical area is desirable.
  • ASQ certification is highly desirable; forklift operator certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Analyses inspection jobs and directs or assigns work as necessary.
  • Leads quality and inspection technicians to ensure that customer and regulatory quality specifications are met based on schedule, department workflow, and efficiency.
  • Training the production team and quality team in quality control measures to improve product excellence.
  • Assist with the identification and development of required procedures and processes related to the Quality Management System.
  • Participates and aids in cross-training program for quality and inspection technicians as needed.
  • Reviews work orders (written or verbal) and determines specific inspection requirements/needs.
  • Identifies, quarantines, and documents non-conforming parts or materials detected during incoming, WIP, or final inspection activities.
  • Works directly with suppliers for replacements/refunds, and issues corrective actions (as needed).
  • Prepares and processes inspection documents (packets, radiator id tags, etc.) for IEA products.
  • Conducts final inspection or audit of IEA finished goods and ship-loose components to ensure conformance with order.
  • Overseas maintaining all inspection records relating to individual inspection activities.
  • Make recommendations to IEA management for ordering products, or other changes in accordance with Company and customer requirements and specifications.
  • Ensure that all assigned areas and equipment meet 6S standards.
  • Oversee customer PPAP requests.
  • Oversee operations tool calibration program.
  • Assist in internal ISO 9001:2015 audit program.
  • Understand and operate Romer/CMM operations.
  • Works in a safe manner at all times and ensures that safety rules are followed without exception.
  • Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in team meetings as required (safety, problem-solving, employee events, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company-specific regulations related to the quality of product and to the proper performance of day-to-day activities
