About The Position

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Intern is responsible for performing inspections on manufactured products during all stages of production and completes final inspections before shipment. The Quality Intern may also inspect incoming materials for accuracy and defects. This position will ensure that products meet engineering standards and customer quality expectations.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
  • Currently a sophomore or later status
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office required. Excellent Excel skills are a plus
  • Excellent communication & organizational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Time management skills: Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple tasks
  • Able to work well within a team, as well as work independently on projects
  • Available to work full-time in the summer
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers, vendors and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Requires the use of hearing and eye protection when in the plant.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach above shoulders; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process and final inspections
  • Input information into the quality management system
  • Ensure all in-process inspection documentation is signed and in order
  • Discuss quality issues with the production leads and supervisors to resolve issues timely
  • Participates in root cause analysis
