About The Position

The Quality Inspector conducts Quality Assurance audits and routine checks, tests, gauging, and instrument inspections of materials, work in process, and finished products. The role ensures company and product standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved. The inspector consults with the Quality Manager to resolve quality, production, and efficiency problems and functions as an information source to various company departments for special and critical quality issues. This position also coordinates the flow of jobs through the Inspection Department to meet scheduled customer ship dates. Additionally, the inspector may cover for other quality assurance personnel, perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency, and work on special projects and related assignments as requested. They may also perform First Article Inspection from new or modified tooling.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Minimum two years experience in quality control.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Must be familiar with computers and computer software.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with operating or programming a Sheffield or Zeiss CMM.

Responsibilities

  • Determine overall product quality by conducting and evaluating various visual and product tests for obvious defects.
  • Routinely complete and interpret inspection paperwork and blueprints including GD&T.
  • Inspect incoming jobs from sub-contractors for quality and product integrity.
  • Perform in-process, first piece inspection and first article using various measuring equipment.
  • Notify Quality Manager when inspection data exceeds acceptable limits or when major incidents of poor quality are detected.
  • Ensure that all measuring equipment is calibrated within acceptable tolerances and time frame.
  • Assist in development of special department projects and work in conjunction with QA Manager.
  • May cover for quality assurance personnel.
  • Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • When requested, may work on special projects and various related assignments.
  • Perform other related to work duties and assignments as required.
  • May perform First Article Inspection from new or modified tooling.
