About The Position

The Inspector in the Quality Department performs product assesments and dimensional measurements on components, turbines (steam and gas) and generators. Job Description Participates in safety training and ensures personal safety as well as safety of co-workers Performs duties as assigned by Supervisor and Leadman Performs inspection on steam, gas turbine rotors and stationary components within the factory and on site (if assigned to site work) Performs inspection on generator rotors and components within the factory and on site (if assigned to site work) Participates in work force development to develop skills and abilities Conducts Hardness Testing Performs Visual Inspections Takes dimensional measurements Makes Visual Assessments Uses Quality Inspection measuring tools identified on skills matrix Prepares and tracks NCRs Performs necessary steps per Standard and I&T Plans Communicates clearly and professionally with others Tracks Standard and I&T Plans and supporting QC records Releases product for shipping Inspection of received parts in shipping and receiving-receipts routing Set up and operate hardness testing for Equotip, Wilson, and Clark (2 of 3) Set up and operate Faro Arm, optical comparator, and bore scope Write, track, and verify implementation of disposition of NCR's Gather or perform all work necessary to document I&T Plans; track to completion Demonstrate high quality communication and work skills per Behavioral Skills section of Skills Matrix Perform other functions as assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical experience with a variety of power generating equipment (steam and gas)/ or 3 years experience with a Technical Certification
  • Strong math skills and the ability to perform complex mathematical calculations; (Example: understanding geometry, reading blueprints)
  • Ability to use hand and automated measuring tools of various sizes and complexities
  • Ability to use precision tools
  • Ability to work flexible 1st shift (7am-330pm)
  • Must be flexible to work various shifts, off-hour shifts, nights, weekends, holidays and dictated by business needs
  • This position is 100% onsite in Richmond, VA at the GE Richmond Service Center
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future
