About The Position

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Mechanical Quality Inspector (Contractor Role) on 2nd Shift (2:30pm - 11:00pm) to join our A220 team based in Mobile, AL. The Mechanical Quality Inspector is responsible for the execution and confirmation of quality inspections as part of the production process with an emphasis on the aircraft structural assemblies and components. Our Engineers at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facility take our aircraft from concept to customer delivery – working with production teams on every aspect of assembly from managing technical information, quality control, maintenance tasks and health & safety – along flowlines and flightlines. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5 years of experience in an aviation company with an emphasis on mechanical and/ or structural components and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of drawing systems, inspection plans, and inspection coordination.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools used in production line.
  • Handling and use of inspection tools for length measuring techniques (mechanical, electrical).
  • Relevant Airline/Aviation experience is desirable.
  • Must be able to work in the US without current or future need for visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant License, an A&P license including inspection authorization is preferred.
  • Experience in a Quality Inspector position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all defined Quality Inspection up to product delivery.
  • Red flag all the deviation which occurs on product, equipment and tools.
  • Verify that the industrial environment, facilities, hardware and tools respond to the operations & safety requirements.
  • Execute technical inspections in the production process of the aircraft in the context of the authorization of manufacturer operation.
  • Prepare and perform visual, incoming, first article, final inspections during aircraft manufacture for compliance with design specifications, customers and certification requirements.
  • Document the technical inspections performed in the FLEXNET/NCMS/SAP production orders SAP-based and the relevant IT systems by inspection remarks and complete other aircraft documents as well as prepare first article inspection reports.
  • Support troubleshooting, Functional Test Procedures(FTPs) and participate in Quality Survey requests.
  • Compile all technical data of non-conformance in order to launch the NCMS-based quality discrepancy sheets for the professional assessment in accordance with the manufacturing engineering documentation.
  • Document all the results of the technical inspector in the FLEXNET/NCMS/SAP based IT system.
  • Attain skills to perform audits of Non-Conformance Rework Orders as part of the Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Perform audits/reviews of workbooks to validate PV approval and process adherence.
  • Track and maintain components during the Non Conformance process.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of drawing systems, inspection plans, and inspection coordination.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools used in production line.
  • Handling and use of inspection tools of the length measuring techniques (mechanical, optical, electrical).
  • Perform other duties as assigned
