The Quality Engineer assists in development and implementation of quality procedures, work instructions and standards. They serve as the main contact for customer issues, assist internal and external contacts to resolve product and process problems, and act as a problem-solving resource by initiating action to overcome obstacles and prevent potential quality problems. They also serve as a resource for manufacturing to reduce or eliminate problems using SPC, DOE, continuous improvement, and other tools, and provide advice for product, product or data analysis, engaging in comparative and competitive analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering field or equivalent work experience in automotive or quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, evaluate and analyze internal or external data.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on both short and long-term assignments.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills to prioritize, coordinate projects, manage conflicting needs, and deal with many issues at one time.
  • Must be able to work independently and maintain focus.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts and represent the Company in a professional manner when performing job duties.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to exercise influence at various levels and functions.
  • Strong computer background with ability to calculate and analyze data, generate reports, present information, etc.
  • Must posses the knowledge of technical processes such as PFMEA, PPAP, DCP, and root causes/problem solving.
  • Three years experience in advanced quality engineering, project/program management; or equivalent (for Level II).
  • Must have thorough and complete knowledge of respective field (for Level II).
  • Must be broadly familiar with technologies, products, customers, and programs (for Level II).
  • Demonstrated ability to work on long-term assignments, broad in nature, using a high level of originality and ingenuity (for Level II).
  • Must be able to work independently with some latitude for unreviewed action or decision (for Level II).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage several large and complex projects simultaneously (for Level II).
  • Must have experience with past project financial responsibilities (for Level II).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others through support, training, etc. (for Level II).
  • Demonstrated ability to thoroughly research, recommend, and oversee implementation of new products, materials, processes, etc. and present information (for Level II).

Responsibilities

  • Assists in development and implementation of quality procedures, work instructions and standards.
  • Serves as the main contact for customer issues; assists internal and external contacts to resolve product and process problems.
  • Serves as a problem-solving resource by initiating action to overcome obstacles as they are encountered and prevent potential quality problems.
  • Serves as a resource for manufacturing to reduce or eliminate problems using SPC, DOE, continuous improvement, and other tools as necessary.
  • Provides advice for product, product or data analysis; engages in comparative and competitive analysis to ensure utilization of most appropriate and beneficial techniques.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.
  • May supervise and provide work direction to other staff.
