Reporting directly to the Manager of Customer Quality within the Quality department. The Quality Engineer is collaborating with the entire Quality team including Supplier Quality as well as Engineering and Production. Key area of responsibility is Customer Quality and Production Quality. Gathering customer field data and prioritizing CAPAs, assisting customers with resolution to issues. Requirements

  • 5 years’ previous experience in quality
  • College graduate bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in electrical concepts and electronics as well as mechanical engineering.
  • Strong aptitude for and proficiency navigating JDE and WMS
  • Must exhibit proficient analytical and computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and outlook
  • Proven background in use of quality tools including but not limited to six sigma, DMAIC, root cause / 8D
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule including weekends, early mornings, late evenings
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for this role

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in architectural lighting products is preferred
  • Experience in interior design, custom home building products, luxury home furnishings and/or lighting industry a plus
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Ability to achieve results both independently and through others by fostering a spirit of teamwork and cooperation
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication across all contact channels, including email, chat and phone

Responsibilities

  • Maintain appropriate quality performance metrics (quality and process compliance reports) and drive resolution of issues.
  • Facilitate and drive root cause analysis and problem solving using various quality tools (8D, 5 Why, Pareto charts, etc.). Monitor and report on root cause resolution activities. Involve appropriate functional areas as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot technical and quality issues in the field related to VCC products, systems, and installations and in particular architectural product support cases
  • Perform root cause analysis on field failures and customer complaints, documenting findings and corrective actions
  • Manage internal audits, including scheduling, preparation, and follow-up actions
  • Work with manufacturing engineering to establish improved operator instructions
  • Initiate projects based on priority (pareto) to reduce incoming inspections and enable dock to stock of incoming material
  • Communicate supplier actions to Supplier Quality team.
  • Help in developing standard work procedures and instructions
  • Maintain and create quality related documentation.
  • Support new product launches to ensure the required quality standards are met.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Design, Engineering, Technical Support and Supplier Quality on current product issues and roll out of new products to the production lines.
  • Works effectively with others in a team environment to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems.
