Requirements

2- or 4-year college degree or equivalent experience desired.
Experience in Lumber Manufacturing.
Supervision experience
Computer electronics and OEM equipment controls knowledge.
Understanding scanning, optimization, and wood processing.
In-depth knowledge of individual optimized machine centers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated computer skills.
Demonstrated math and reading comprehension skills.
Willingness to acquire additional education/training to stay up on technological advancements.

Nice To Haves

Lumber grading certification is desired.

Responsibilities

Monitor and make improvements to all optimized machine centers.
Lead improvement efforts through collaboration with internal resources, OEM suppliers, and maintenance teams, to ensure Key Process Indicators (Scorecard) are on target.
Perform Product simulations to optimize production and value in collaboration with the sales department.
Check, report, and improve mill product distribution and flow. Monitor recovery and trends.
Implement and perform efficiency studies related to the overall process.
Oversee and perform quality checks in sawmill, Kilns and Planer Mill including residuals.
React quickly to identify process and quality anomalies.
Supervise contract saw filing and in-house guide dressing.
Special Projects and other duties as assigned.
