The Quality Control Lab Technician will report to the Operations Manager. All technicians should exhibit good understanding and performance of the fundamental laboratory tasks needed to support manufacturing and process development. Daily activities are prioritized based upon departmental, plant, and corporate goals and objectives and include the following duties and responsibilities:

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited school.
  • Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience in industry setting.
  • Working knowledge of QA laboratory instrumentation (e.g. wet chemistry acid and base titrations, Karl Fischer titrations, viscosity, FTIR, Flashpoint, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal, written).
  • Ability to function in a team environment by working well with others.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrate dependability by maintaining a high standard of attendance.
  • Work on building credibility through timely and accurate task completion.
  • Demonstrate self-initiative by completing daily responsibilities and continuous training.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Follow and abide by all ISO work instructions and department procedures.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates and/or Bachelor's degree in chemistry or equivalent science from an accredited university.
  • Experience with ISO 9001.
  • Familiar with 5S.

Responsibilities

  • Follow detailed instructions for all testing and task accurately (internal methods as well as ASTM).
  • Demonstrate safe laboratory practices, compliant waste handling and disposal. Seek to improve and promote the safety, housekeeping, environmental and efficiency in the work area.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve testing equipment issues and result validity.
  • Ensure accuracy in uploading results and reporting.
  • Ensure all testing equipment and solutions are properly calibrated and standardized as described in testing procedures.
  • Communicate with peers, engineers, and chemists discussing results, testing requests and priorities, providing timely status updates.
  • Learn and maintain basic computer skills necessary to efficiently perform daily work (Microsoft Office, SAP, other internal applications, etc.).
  • Exhibit proficiency in all laboratory equipment and test methods.
  • Use control chart tools.
  • Independently manage own time and priorities.
  • Effectively train others in the laboratory.
  • Proactively recognize and communicate priority conflicts with management.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
