About The Position

The Quality Assurance Supervisor supports the Quality department and manufacturing product lines to ensure compliance to Quality Management System requirements. This position assists with the planning, supporting, and coordination of quality assurance and quality control programs. Leads management of external and internal audit programs, corrective and preventative actions, and document control. This position reports directly to the Quality Manager.

  • Understanding of ISO9001 and IATF16949 or other Quality System requirements.
  • Understanding or the ability to learn and utilize JPS initiatives of QA Network, QBR, FMDS, and QC Circles.
  • Understanding of Metrology for gage systems.
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Minitab, etc.), able to learn and use corporate systems, for example: SharePoint, Oracle, GQTS, Interlink, and GASL.
  • Ability to learn, navigate, and manage company product and project information in Customer portals/websites.
  • Associates degree and/or 5+ years’ work experience in manufacturing required.
  • 3+ years Supervisory experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in bearing products or similar metals manufacturing experience with emphasis on product quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Internal Auditor and ability to perform internal audits to IATF16949 requirements preferred.
  • ITAR clearance strongly preferred.
  • Strong statistical and analytical mathematical skills preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred – Business Administration or Engineering.
  • Direct contact customer and supplier relations experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Continually strives to increase “quality awareness” in all associates through quality events and personal action.
  • Assures completion of appropriate quality planning and implementation of Quality Management System requirements.
  • Develop a full understanding of all customer-specific Quality requirements as per the customer’s Supplier Quality Manual.
  • Ensures JTEKT’s products and processes demonstrate compliance to ISO9001, IATF16949, and Customer Specific requirements.
  • Communicates customer quality requirements to affected plant manufacturing departments.
  • Directly supports plant visits by customers or other visitors as directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Hosts, facilitates, and manages 3rd party and customer on-site and remote audits.
  • Provides data analysis and risk assessment pertaining to quality, customer audits, and new product launches.
  • Assists in planning, promoting, and organizing training activities related to product quality and reliability.
  • Interfaces with customers using verbal, written, and graphical communication tools in response to customer audits, claims, and concerns. Ability to effectively communicate is critical to this position.
  • Represents the Quality Department during customer and supplier meetings, telephone, and email conversations.
  • Provides analysis of the organization’s overall performance against goals set for assigned KPIs.
  • Audits and updates Control Plans and pFMEAs as directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Work with logistics and engineering to ensure customer-specific packaging requirements are met.
  • Understands traceability of all processed orders.
  • Understand quality requirements of part drawings and non-print quality requirements and standards.
  • Prepare PPAP, preproduction and prototype submissions and maintain documentation in an organized manner. Review and disposition supplier PPAPs.
  • Organizes and directs Run at Rate/capacity evaluations for New Launch per JTEKT and customer requirements.
  • Leads the investigation of customer issues regarding quality and ensures appropriate action and customer satisfaction.
  • Completes detailed customer issue reports such as 8-Step, 8D, A3, and other problem-solving tools within required timeframes.
  • Publish/Review Quality Alerts for customer, internal and supplier issues.
  • Builds direct customer rapport through superior responsiveness and support.
  • Presents investigation reports to senior leadership for customer complaints as directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Understands various aspects of the selection of process line gauging, training of setters, operators, and inspectors on proper gauging techniques, and provides advanced improvements to inspection techniques where needed.
  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of JTEKT products.
  • Ensure Corrective Actions for supplier, Internal and customer concerns are effective, documented, implemented and closed in a timely manner. Validates effective implementation.
  • Works directly with assigned departments to reduce or eliminate scrap.
  • Supports all health, safety, and environmental standards, ensuring associates are working safely, and following all safety rules and procedures.
  • Travel to customers as needed to investigate, resolve, and report on complaints and/or warranty issues.
  • Ensures applicable technical inspections are applied to JTEKT products.
