About The Position

Immediate need for a Quality Assurance Specialist in Kenner, LA for a multi-billion dollar leader in their industry. This is a Temp to Hire opportunity that is paying $22-$32/hr. Start time: 7:30am (ideally 2am 2 days a week) End time: 4:30pm Schedule – if other than M-F: After training could include a weekend day (most likely Saturday) but Monday to Friday to start This position is responsible for quality element control related to operation, policy and procedure auditing, supporting quality improvement projects, and supporting the manager to drive defect prevention and detections. The position acts as the primary business unit liaison to US Quality Assurance.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a high-volume QA environment within the food industry (food manufacturer, high-volume caterer, or similar). Lab-only experience will not be a fit for this role.
  • Demonstrated experience with food safety audits.
  • Food processing experience is essential

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred qualifications include College degree in related discipline, knowledge of HACCP, quality management and six sigma
  • Is HACCP certified and ServeSafe trained a plus
  • Basic lean, six sigma knowledge, and continuous improvement understanding a plus
  • HACCP Certification
  • Familiarity with SQF standards and audits
  • PCQI Certification (second-level)
  • This role will oversee the activities of approximately 10 employees. Prior supervisory experience is a plus but not a hard requirement.
  • Completes all other company required training including but not limited to ServSafe Sanitation Manager Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and monitors quality improvement projects
  • Audits implementation of quality system for effectiveness by verifying operation activities to Customer and Regulatory specification
  • Monitors corrective action system
  • Educates and trains unit staff and managers in quality related issues
  • Plays a key role in developing a comprehensive quality program
  • Implements the quality system detailed in the quality manual
  • Champions the total quality improvement efforts and initiates problem solving efforts and assures implementation
  • Supports the manager to drive prevention vs. detection of defects
  • Coordinates actions to prevent the occurrences of nonconformities
  • Maintains customer compliance resolution
  • Responsible for the maintenance of key performance metrics for the Quality organization
  • Acts as the primary liaison to US Quality Assurance
  • Controls Food safety and Quality of processing and manufacturing within the business
  • Supports customer audits, government audits to meet compliance
  • Verifies and ensures company policies and procedures are followed
  • Ensures quality specifications and requirements are followed and met
  • Assists with developing Standard Operating Procedures
  • Responsible for safety, quality and compliance to customer specification
  • Assists in training of all Standard Operating Procedures and Critical Control Points in the unit
