As a Quality Assurance Spec within PNC's Lending Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh PA or Dallas TX. We are seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist who brings a hands‑on, technically strong testing mindset and a passion for ensuring high‑quality, resilient software solutions. This role is ideal for a QA professional who is comfortable working across both manual and automated testing, has Java and API testing experience, and actively challenges code and design decisions to improve overall solution quality.

Requirements

  • Proven hands‑on testing experience, including both manual and automated testing.
  • Strong Java experience, particularly as it relates to testing and automation.
  • Demonstrated experience with API testing.
  • Experience using Karate for automation testing.
  • Hands‑on experience with Postman for manual testing.
  • Strong critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to review and challenge code, designs, and test outcomes constructively.
  • Ability to work effectively in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Successful candidates must demonstrate appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities for a role.
  • Listed below are skills, competencies, work experience, education, and required certifications/licensures needed to be successful in this position.
  • Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous software development experience, enabling deeper collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Experience testing enterprise‑scale or distributed systems.
  • Exposure to financial services or other regulated technology environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands‑on testing, including both manual and automation testing, to validate application functionality, integrations, and performance.
  • Design, build, and maintain automated test scripts using Karate for API and service‑level testing.
  • Execute API testing to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and system interoperability.
  • Use Postman for manual API testing, validation, and exploratory testing.
  • Review code, test results, and requirements with a critical mindset, actively challenging assumptions and identifying potential risks or defects.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and other QA team members within Agile delivery teams.
  • Document test cases, defects, and results clearly and thoroughly, ensuring traceability and transparency.
