About The Position

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required from an accredited institution
  • Must have excellent customer service, communication, and computer skills.
  • This job also requires excellent attendance and attention to detail, plus compassion and empathy.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial information and various types of data to assist in making decisions based on the data
  • Ability to drive performance improvement to create safe and efficient processes for patient care
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (available through Hillsdale Hospital)

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant Certification, preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare billing, data reporting, and leadership preferred.
  • Clinical work experience or background/certification preferred
  • Previous experience with HEDIS measures, MSSP, and PCMH programs

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Hillsdale Hospital Outpatient Clinic’s referral work queues.
  • Ensure that provider orders for ancillary services are executed/completed and that patients follow through with referrals to lab, radiology, and other referrals.
  • Ensure provider orders to specialty services are executed/completed.
  • Embody the Hillsdale Strong Hillsdale First mantra by monitoring provider referral patterns and informing leadership of referral leakage concerns
  • Responsible for work queue task completion across the Hillsdale Hospital Outpatient Clinics.
  • Make referral/workflow recommendations to clinic leadership based off patterns and data
  • Track quality and regularly work to increase all quality scores and incentives for our clinics.
  • Assist in follow up calls to patients made after they have been seen in ED or inpatient stay as necessary.
  • Schedule patients for various appt types in clinics as needed.
  • Provide recommendations on workflow improvements and serve as an additional resource for ensuring timely completion of authorizations. Assist with coverage of interface work queue.
  • Monitor Outside billing activity for accuracy and report any discrepancies for correction and rebilling.
  • Abide by all regulations, policies, work practices and instructions
