Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment. Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters. Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils. Ensure proper presentation to provide maximum appeal and freshness. Maintain production knowledge and attention to detail with taste and quality. Produce products in a cost effective and hygienic manner. Adhere to departmental uniform standards. Follow food storage principles and hierarchy per food code. Constantly strive to improve operating procedures. Properly label and date all products to ensure rotation, safekeeping, and sanitation. Ensure food quality is superior and takes action to correct any irregularities. Ensure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and functioning. Work within the sanitation standards and in compliance of MIC, local, state, and federal regulations, and guidelines. Work with others to ensure the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen. Creates, maintains, and facilitates a positive and safe work environment; promotes positive team member relations and reports issues to the appropriate personnel. Other duties as assigned.
