About The Position

This Quonset Point Detail Planning Quality Team position will be responsible for audit and surveillance of the Detail Planning work instructions and processes and procedures involving Detail Planning. This Detail Planner role will provide department leadership with valuable causal analysis and metrics data that will lead to continuous improvement in the quality of Planning products. As a member of this team, you will be given a large degree of autonomy and independence within the investigative process. The position requires a working knowledge of Planning processes, data, and business tools used by Detail Planners to accurately assess Detail Planning performance health, quality metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives for Planning Department leadership.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in either Detail Planning, Design, Engineering, or Trades or combination of any of the these at Electric Boat
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel capabilities
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Teamcenter applications
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in PCM
  • Familiarity with ARTEMIS project management software and command
  • Highly detailed oriented
  • Works well independently and takes initiatives with minimal oversight
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to successfully interact with all levels of management
  • Collect, analyze and report data metrics to upper management
  • Investigate complex activities
  • Ability to make independent decisions, staying objective at all times, and adapt to urgent changes to priorities
  • Strong critical thinking

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience in a Quonset Point Detail or Production Planning Organization
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Prior shipyard, ship construction or submarine experience interfacing with Groton or Quonset Point Operations stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Data mining and collection to support trend analysis
  • Develop quality metrics and root cause analysis for the company’s Planning department to improve organizational efficiency and learning
  • Conduct the audit and surveillance program to support Detail Planning leadership continuous improvement, training, and self-assessment programs
  • Special projects supporting Company-wide process improvement efforts
  • Collaboration with peers and supervision for the development of new processes and procedures
  • Work instruction development and work order maintenance in support of production work and proficiency maintenance
