The Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) will provide medications and nursing care to residents, under the supervision of a community nurse. This role involves performing the functions of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), accurately administering various types of medications (excluding injectable or chemotherapeutic), and observing and reporting the effects of administered drugs to the licensed nurse. The QMA will also administer PRN medications and treatments only with proper authorization, ensure resident care within the scope of a CNA, document medication administration, and keep licensed nurses informed of resident conditions and responses to medications. Adherence to policies, procedures, and confidentiality, including HIPAA compliance, is essential.
