The QE Lab Test Technician and Fiber Splicer will setup and perform testing on fiber optic cables, accessories, and connectivity/apparatus products. The testing will include mechanical, environmental, and optical performance testing to industry standards.
Requirements
- Must be self-reliant, with very high attention to detail
- Ability and desire to learn new skills
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow strict test procedures and maintain objective attitude towards testing results
- Ability to work with technical data and specifications
- Multitasking ability in a team environment; self – starter
- Problem Solving; results oriented
- In lieu of certifications, must have 1 year of work experience, technical manufacturing environment, preferred
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, datasheets and written work instruction
- Obtain at least 2 QE Lab certifications (options include environmental testing, mechanical testing – OCA, mechanical testing – Cable, optical testing – cable, optical testing – OCA, WDM testing, and materials testing)
- Complete FO123 basic fiber optic training course
Nice To Haves
- Previous work background in fiber optics is ideal, along with any type of technical background
- Fiber optic testing experience is preferred
- Fiber splicing experience is preferred
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Responsibilities
- Setup testing in accordance with industry standards
- Perform testing in accordance with established test procedures
- Record test results in test documentation and perform additional data analysis where required
- Report results and any observations to co-workers, managers, and engineering as required
- Work on multiple product lines and have flexibility in work schedule and test diversity
- Participate on continuous improvements teams to achieve the highest level of test efficiency
- Interact with and support for the engineering staff as required
- Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL
