About The Position

Aspen Utility Company is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Fiber Splicer to join our telecommunications construction team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in fiber optic cable splicing, testing, and troubleshooting in both aerial and underground environments. This role is critical to ensuring high-quality connectivity for our clients across residential, commercial, and municipal projects.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in fiber splicing or related telecommunications work.
Proficiency with fiber splicing tools and test equipment (e.g., OTDR, fusion splicer).
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics.
Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Nice To Haves

Experience with GIS mapping and documentation tools.
Knowledge of coaxial cable systems and small cell installations.
Familiarity with safety protocols in utility construction environments.

Responsibilities

Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables.
Conduct OTDR, power meter, and light source testing to verify cable integrity.
Interpret and work from network schematics, blueprints, and splice diagrams.
Install and maintain fiber optic systems in aerial and underground settings.
Troubleshoot and repair damaged fiber systems.
Maintain accurate records of splicing activities and test results.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and company protocols.
Collaborate with field crews, project managers, and clients to meet project timelines.
