About The Position

The QA Supervisor is responsible for conducting quality assurance control testing on products and raw materials on the plant floor. This involves utilizing and/or adapting inspection equipment to meet quality control standards, making suggestions about procedures, standards, and equipment, and investigating faulty work to advise production supervisors on corrective measures. The role ensures that sell-by and production dates are correct on product runs and analyzes circumstances to determine appropriate actions within standard practices. The supervisor directs workers engaged in measuring and testing products and tabulating data concerning quality and reliability, and confers with other supervisors to coordinate departmental activities. Additionally, the QA Supervisor directs and supervises a team of employees involved in inspection and quality assurance procedures for purchased, in-process, and finished materials. This includes planning and assigning work, scheduling QA technicians, managing Kronos for the department, maintaining discipline and morale, and addressing personnel issues such as hiring, promotions, wage adjustments, and terminations. The position also requires maintaining time and production records, compiling inspection records and quality control reports, and initiating plans to motivate workers, including developing and implementing training programs with other departments. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing
  • Minimum of five years of experience in quality control in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good math skills
  • Must be well-organized with good attention to detail
  • Display strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Adaptable and dependable with ability to follow direction and work cooperation with others
  • Must maintain a helpful and professional attitude and appearance
  • Ability to apply logic and understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, instructions and to deal with problems involving a few different variables.

  • Supervisory experience in food manufacturing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducts assurance control testing on products and raw materials on the plant floor.
  • Utilizes and/or adapts inspection equipment to meet quality control standards, make suggestions about procedures, standards and equipment to facilitate work and maintain product quality.
  • Investigate and determine cause of faulty work and consult and advise production supervisors as to corrective measures.
  • Ensures that sell-by and production dates are correct on product runs.
  • Analyze facts or circumstances surrounding individual problems to determine what action should be taken within the limits of standard practices.
  • Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Directs and supervises a group of employees involved in inspection and quality assurance procedures about purchased material, in-process material and finished products to assure that quality assurance standards are achieved.
  • Plans and assigns work of team.
  • Responsible for scheduling QA technicians to assure proper coverage.
  • Responsible for Kronos in the QA Department.
  • Maintains discipline, morale, and harmonious relations among team members.
  • Investigates and adjusts personnel problems within area of responsibility.
  • Effectively recommends as to hiring, promotions, wage adjustments, and terminations.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Compiles and maintains inspection records and quality control reports.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Interfaces with other departments to develop and implement training programs as required.
  • May assume other duties as assigned.
