Xumo, a joint venture between Comcast and Charter Communications, was formed to develop and offer a next-generation streaming platform for the entire entertainment industry. The company consists of three primary lines of business: Xumo devices, Xumo Play, and Xumo Enterprise. Powered by Comcast’s global entertainment platform, Xumo devices feature a world-class user interface with universal voice search capabilities, making it easy for consumers to find and enjoy their favorite streaming content. Xumo Play is a free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service offering hundreds of linear channels and on-demand options. Xumo Enterprise provides tools and services for content creators, distributors, and advertisers to make FAST content more accessible. Job Summary Xumo is seeking a QA Engineer III to support the quality, stability, and operational readiness of our FAST Enterprise Syndication platform. This role partners closely with video engineering, product, and operations teams to ensure high-quality linear channel delivery across MVPD, OEM, and OTT distribution partners. This position focuses on linear streaming workflows, combining hands-on operational QA with structured test planning, device certification, and partner readiness. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable working in fast-paced production environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 3+ years of QA experience in video, streaming, OTT, broadcast, or digital media environments.
  • Strong understanding of test planning, test case development, regression testing, and issue tracking procedures.
  • Design and execute test strategies to validate product functionality, performance, and overall quality.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to clarify requirements and ensure test coverage aligns with release goals.
  • Review product and technical specifications with a focus on testability, verification, and quality throughout development.
  • Working knowledge of HLS, DASH, and other adaptive bitrate streaming formats.
  • Familiarity with scripting such as Python, JavaScript, Bash/Shell, etc.
  • Passion for video technology, consumer streaming experiences, and content quality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform end‑to‑end QA on video streaming and playback experiences: validating video, audio, captions, and ad or content quality standards are met.
  • Test across a wide range of devices (smart TVs, mobile, web, set‑top boxes) to ensure consistent quality, performance, and feature behavior.
  • Validate new distribution endpoints and partner integrations prior to launch to reduce production risk.
  • Review encoding profiles, metadata handling, subtitle/caption formatting, and playback logic.
  • Work closely with engineering teams, product managers, and operations team to review requirements, specifications, and delivery readiness.
  • Support device certification, partner readiness, or cross‑platform compatibility efforts.
  • Participate in operational tasks such as channel launches, migrations, maintenance windows, assisting with validation and issue triage.
  • Monitor and validate production incidents, supporting troubleshooting and recovery efforts.
  • Maintain test environments, devices, and tools required for ongoing QA operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve QA efficiency through process improvements, automation, and lightweight scripting.
