About The Position

Purchasing Project Manager Salina, KS Great Plains Manufacturing, a leading manufacturer of small agricultural and construction equipment and implements, is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Project Manager to join our Procurement team. The Purchasing Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement process for projects, ensuring that all purchasing activities align with organizational goals and project timelines. This role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that materials and services are delivered on time and within budget. Join us in driving the future of the GPM Procurement team to the Global Supply Chain level! This is an on-site position based at our Corporate Offices located in Salina, KS. Typical work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday from 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM. This position may occasionally require attending to and answering phone calls outside of normal business hours.

Requirements

  • 6 months - 1 year of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, with a focus on project management.
  • Proven track record of managing supply chain activities.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving activities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and project management tools (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Project, Google Drive).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Effective presentation skills to deliver information to a variety of audiences and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate s or Bachelor s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or similar APICS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Coordination: Develop and implement strategies for projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to identify purchasing needs and specifications.
  • Help organize and track project milestones and deliverables across teams.
  • Support communication between various departments (Engineering, Marketing, Supply chain, and Manufacturing) to ensure alignment on launch objectives and timelines.
  • Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers to secure the best terms for the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and monitor supplier performance.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets related to purchasing activities, tracking expenditures and variances.
  • Conduct cost analysis and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions.
  • Monitor market trends and economic factors that may impact procurement activities.
  • Generate status reports for management and stakeholders, identifying key risks, delays, and solutions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities, contracts, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Prepare and present procurement reports to management and project stakeholders as requested.
  • Schedule and participate in team meetings, documenting action items and following up on progress.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve purchasing processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implement best practices in procurement and project management.
  • Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
  • Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
