About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Purchasing Manager with the Business Center North (BCN) Purchasing Department. The Business Center North (BCN) Purchasing Department is the unit charged by Board of Regents policy to conduct all purchases of goods and services for the five BCN institutions: Desert Research Institute, Great Basin College, Truckee Meadows Community College, the University of Nevada, Reno and Western Nevada College as well as the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) System Offices. The Purchasing Manager provides daily operational leadership for a high-volume purchasing team and ensures all transactions meet established KPIs, policies, and compliance standards. The position develops and implements efficient purchasing processes and procedures for BCN institutions while delivering responsive support to faculty, staff, and campus partners. The role leads the cooperative purchasing program, including compliance, documentation, reporting, supplier coordination, and staff training. The Purchasing Manager supervises and mentors purchasing staff by assigning work, balancing workload, setting performance goals, and providing ongoing coaching. The position also oversees all non-construction formal solicitations from draft through award and ensures staff are trained on standardized solicitation procedures. Additionally, the role serves as backup for purchasing work, solicitation functions, and departmental operations during staff or leadership absences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of professional related work experience; OR a Master’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience.
  • Related Experience: Two (2) years supervisory experience and purchasing management or related.
