POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for receiving and unloading supplies, marking supplies with assigned codes, stocking shelves, restocking supplies in specific areas of the hospital, and delivering supplies to departments. The purchasing clerk is responsible for assisting the purchasing manager maintaining statistics, census and other information for reporting reasons. Maintains and files purchasing documents. They will also keep track of inventory and assist with the inventory process when it is conducted. CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES Accept deliveries, unload, code, and stock supplies, properly handling sterile supplies to maintain sterility. Replenish inventory when needed. Properly disperse all supplies to various locations within the facility. Responsible for making corrections, deletions, and adjustments to quantities of supplies stocked in relation to the PAR levels established throughout the facility. Assist departments with completing orders. Maintain information regarding backordered supplies and forward that information to various departments. Reconcile finance files with inventory. Maintain all areas of material storage in a neat and organized manner, utilizing proper rotation of supplies. Perform regular inspection of supplies to make sure that the expiration date has not been reached. Maintain accurate records of all expired supplies and disposal method of expired supplies. Perform other duties as assigned. SCOPE OF IMPACT This position will support the purchasing department by ensuring all areas have the supplies they need to run efficiently and effectively; ensuring supplies are restocked utilizing proper rotation, organization, identification, documentation, and location of stock items. QualificationsPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Experience: Computer experience with software applications including Microsoft Office. 6 - 12 months experience in ordering, receiving, stocking, and delivering supplies preferred. Licensure and Certification: None Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: Medical Terminology Patient confidentiality Office machines Basic computer use Skills in: Effective written and oral communication. Prioritizing responsibilities to ensure completion of duties. Ability to: Be detail oriented. Apply customer service principals to everyday work situations. Make statistical computations. Work under pressure. Work independently with minimal supervision. Use designated reference materials.
