About The Position

Join Fori Automation in Shelby Township, MI as a Purchasing Buyer focused on outsourced machining. In this role, you’ll manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely procurement of goods and services to support automation projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years experience in machining/CNC environment; or minimum 5 years experience in machining/CNC environment in lieu of a degree
  • 3 years experience as a buyer in an automotive or automation environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with ERP systems (Kinetic preferred)
  • Strong negotiation, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Execute procurement of goods and services within required timeframes, ensuring best value for money.
  • Manage daily functions of the Purchasing Department and support the Purchasing Supervisor.
  • Prioritize daily activities to align with management objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with all administrative and quality procedures (QS-9000TE, ISO, Kinetic, Ariba, etc.).
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Review supplier costs regularly to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Represent Fori Automation in all supplier negotiations and business dealings.
  • Recommend alternate products to engineering and manufacturing based on value and lead time.
  • Provide feedback on delivery issues and resolve procurement challenges.
  • Audit suppliers for capability, capacity, quality, price, delivery reliability, and financial stability.
  • Create and manage purchase orders in Kinetic and ensure timely data entry.
  • Assist Proposal and Estimating Department by obtaining outside quotes through Ariba.
  • Support strategic objectives by establishing long-term supplier partnerships.
  • Follow up with suppliers on unresolved issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Complete special assignments as directed by executive management.
  • Stay current with purchasing practices and attend training as required.
