About The Position

Join Fori Automation in Shelby Township, MI as a Purchasing Buyer focused on outsourced machining. In this role, you’ll manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely procurement of goods and services to support automation projects.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years experience in machining/CNC environment; or minimum 5 years experience in machining/CNC environment in lieu of a degree
3 years experience as a buyer in an automotive or automation environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with ERP systems (Kinetic preferred)
Strong negotiation, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

Execute procurement of goods and services within required timeframes, ensuring best value for money.
Manage daily functions of the Purchasing Department and support the Purchasing Supervisor.
Prioritize daily activities to align with management objectives.
Maintain compliance with all administrative and quality procedures (QS-9000TE, ISO, Kinetic, Ariba, etc.).
Ensure adherence to safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
Build and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
Review supplier costs regularly to ensure competitive pricing.
Represent Fori Automation in all supplier negotiations and business dealings.
Recommend alternate products to engineering and manufacturing based on value and lead time.
Provide feedback on delivery issues and resolve procurement challenges.
Audit suppliers for capability, capacity, quality, price, delivery reliability, and financial stability.
Create and manage purchase orders in Kinetic and ensure timely data entry.
Assist Proposal and Estimating Department by obtaining outside quotes through Ariba.
Support strategic objectives by establishing long-term supplier partnerships.
Follow up with suppliers on unresolved issues and recommend corrective actions.
Complete special assignments as directed by executive management.
Stay current with purchasing practices and attend training as required.
