About The Position

We are an established boat manufacturer established in 1965, based in Nashville, Georgia, looking for a Purchasing Buyer to manage and improve our supply base. This role is responsible for sourcing materials, negotiating supplier agreements, maintaining adequate inventory levels without overstock, and supporting efficient, cost-effective manufacturing operations. The right candidate has hands-on purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, is comfortable working with data and systems for production planning and materials management

Requirements

• Experience in purchasing or sourcing for a manufacturing environment
• Strong negotiating skills with proven supplier management experience
• Working knowledge of ERP systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills
• Ability to analyze data and make practical, cost-focused decisions

Nice To Haves

• Experience in marine, automotive, or similar manufacturing industries
• Knowledge of lean management principles
• Familiarity with composite materials and complex component sourcing

Responsibilities

• Purchasing and sourcing activities for manufacturing materials and components
• Source and manage suppliers for composite raw materials, wood, plastics, stainless steel, copper, and finished components such as electronics, lighting, seating, and related parts
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to meet cost, quality, and delivery goals
• Maintain accurate purchasing data within ERP and warehouse management systems
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and warehouse teams to support build schedules and inventory needs
• Monitor supplier performance and address quality, delivery, or cost issues
• Support lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
• Track material costs, lead times, and inventory levels to reduce waste and shortages
