About The Position

Smoker Craft, Inc currently has an opening for Purchasing Assistant ! This position works from our office in New Paris, IN. This is NOT a remote position. Job Duties : Analyze messages from MRP system and place orders in a timely manner. Forecast and plan assigned commodities at the SKU level. Manage suppliers to reduce costs, improve quality, control inventories and ensure timely flow of material. Monitor and report key performance metrics, inventories, shortages, and supplier performance. Manage inventories to ensure continuous production while maximizing turns. Develop thorough working knowledge of assigned commodities and associated supplier base. Develop a thorough working knowledge of required MRP / ERP systems. Buyer Planner Bring ideas to management and be able to implement necessary process improvements. Develop mutually beneficial, respectful, and effective relationships with peers to ensure seamless coordination between departments, maximize synergy, and maintain a shared vision, strategy, and focus. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience purchasing raw materials in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of MRP systems preferably Syteline.
  • In-depth understanding of MRP concepts including bills of material.
  • Must be hands on with strong problem-solving acumen.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to details.
  • Required to have an extensive working knowledge of PC functions and Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, works independently, displays initiative and solves problems with proficiency.
