Position Overview: Motiva’s Chemicals facility is looking to hire Pump/Rotating Equipment Mechanics to join our team in Port Arthur. As a Pump/Rotating Equipment Mechanic, you will perform preventive and predictive maintenance on pumps, fans, and other mechanical equipment. Maintenance tasks will include equipment troubleshooting, installation/removal, repair, and laser alignments.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent education
3+ years of continuous and current industrial machinist, mechanic, or millwright experience OR must have an Associate’s degree and/or formal journey level certification in a mechanical field
Valid driver’s license
Demonstrated working proficiency with alignment tools
Willing and able to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation
Willing and able to work in compact and confined spaces with or without accommodation
Willing and able to work at heights, walk on high elevation grating and to walk up and down stairs with or without accommodation
Motiva emphasizes safety in all phases of its business, therefore, with proper training, you must be willing to use safe lifting techniques to lift 50 pounds from the ground to waist level with or without accommodation
Willing and able to work in self-contained breathing apparatus
This role is subject to a pre-hire physical abilities test.

Responsibilities

Perform complete overhauls on process pumps and ensure proper documentation of the repair, including equipment condition history within SAP.
Install, align, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair the various types of pumps.
Install, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair, and overhaul various types of air-intake blowers, fan variable pitch assemblies and air cooler fans.
Perform pump repair – including mechanical seal replacement.
Perform turbine removal, installation, and preventive maintenance.
Check and adjust speed control governors on turbines.
Remove and install gear boxes.
Read and interpret mechanical drawings.
Diagnose and apply results using a micrometer and other alignment tools for power-driven connections, such as laser alignment tools.
Perform other general maintenance activities, including work with cranes, forklifts, and other lifting equipment.
Adhere to safe work practices and permitting procedures.
