About The Position

Pump Mechanic We are Hydro Inc., a global, industrial pump re-engineering company with corporate headquarters in Chicago. As the largest independent pump rebuilder in the world, Hydro's has provided engineering expertise, pump repair and support services to the industry since 1969. Our mission is to work hand-in-hand with our valued customers around the world to optimize the performance and reliability of their pumping systems by evaluating and understanding root causes of pump degradation or failure and by providing unbiased engineering analysis, quality workmanship, and responsive field service for improved plant operation. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to be a Mechanicfor our Aftermarket Pump Repair Shop located in a great neighborhood in the West Loop in Chicago, IL. General Summary: Dismantle, rebuild, and reassemble customers machinery.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in pump repair and maintenance.
  • Use of power and hand tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
  • Proficient in acetylene and electric arc welding.
  • 5 years of pump mechanic experience with notion of shop repair, assembly and disassembly of pumps, valves, and rotating equipment.
  • Millwright mechanic or formal training from an accredited technical college or trade school or a equivalent multiyear apprenticeship program.
  • Knowledge of working with electric motors.
  • High School diploma.
  • Proficient in the use of grinders, heating torches, drill press, balance machine, radial drill, burning torch, precise measuring tools, assembling rotors by hand firring using die grinders.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers service specifications.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman or US Military experience desired.
  • 2 years’ experience in machining and tooling in a machine shop environment desired.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, disassembles, repairs and/or rebuilds pumps of all types, compressors, and small turbines.
  • Assess problems and make repairs in the field.
  • Operate stem cleaner sandblaster, bead blaster, cranes/hoists/com-a-long, forklift, pullers/presses/rams, ovens/heaters, and impact tools.
  • Maintenance welding.
  • Act as a lead person in supervisors’ absence.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees.
